The community of Caernarvon is located south of 153rd Avenue, north of 145th Avenue, and west of 113A Street to 124 Street. Prior to urban development, the area which Caernarvon now occupies was rural or semi-rural in nature, and the land was primarily in agricultural use. Caernarvon was developed on land annexed from the Johnstone family in 1971.
Caernarvon is proud to be a multicultural community. Recreational opportunities and parkland are conveniently placed next to Caernarvon Community League Hall, and Caernarvon and Katherine Therrien Elementary Schools in the centre of the neighbourhood. A number of strategically placed pathways promote pedestrian travel through our neighbourhood.
Caernarvon is named after the famous Caernarfon Castle in northwest Wales, a fortress-palace on the banks of the River Seiont. Built during the reign of Edward I in the late 1200’s, it is considered one of Britain’s greatest medieval fortresses, and is recognized as a World Heritage Site.
Caernarvon uses a free app called CommuniBee to keep residents up-to-date and to distribute memberships. To learn more download the app below or sign up through our web version.
